Our Head Coach Kim brings a wealth of competitive swimming and coaching experience to CMSS, having represented South Africa internationally before beginning her coaching career.
During her competitive career, Kim represented South Africa at international events including the World University Games, All Africa Games and Pan Pacific Championships. She won bronze in the 4×100m Medley Relay at the 1997 World University Games and four gold medals and one silver at the 1999 All Africa Games.
From 1998 to 2002, Kim swam for Ohio University in the USA, competing at NCAA level and achieving 16 Mid-American Conference (MAC) titles and six MAC records. She was named MAC Swimmer of the Year in 2000 and Outstanding Senior Swimmer in 2002. In recognition of her achievements, Kim was inducted into the Ohio University Athletics Hall of Fame in 2014.
Over ten years competing at the South African National Championships, Kim won an impressive 21 gold, 14 silver and four bronze medals.
Following her competitive career, Kim moved into coaching, becoming one of the Head Coaches at Tigerfish Aquatics Club in South Africa and establishing her own swim school. She joined CMSS in 2009 and has since used her experience both in and out of the pool to help generations of CMSS swimmers improve their technique, confidence and performance.
Kim’s approach reflects what CMSS is all about: helping every swimmer develop their ability and get the most from their swimming, whether their goal is to compete, improve their technique or simply become a stronger, more confident swimmer.
